Long time no blog..

Hey everyone...

It's been a while since I've blogged..I've been busy... College is hectic.. RSB is hectic.. Party Planning is coming along(two months), and thankfully I don't start on the schedule for my seasonal job at Urban Outfitters until next week.

This past Saturday was so jammed packed.. I went to a GRO (GirlsRiders.org) clinic out in Union Hills, it was really fun and i learned some really basic stuff that I'd never learned during my 5 years of skate(::cough learning how to fall in knee pads cough::).. I really suggest, if you've ever wanted to try skateboarding seeing when GRO will be in your area, their clinics are totally free(they operate on donations) and they even provide boards, helmets, and pads for you to borrow during the clinic.  Silly from Silly Girl Designs (a girl oriented skate company) was there too, she's a really genuinely nice person who loves the sport.
After the GRO clinic, most of us headed over to The Battle For El Mirage skate competition at the brand new Skate Plaza(the first one in Arizona... btw Skate Plaza's, which i think is a term rob dyrdek coined, are skate parks for strictly street skating. no vert) out in El Mirage(El Mirage is so fricken far from Scottsdale.. I'd never even been out there before)... It was really fun.. A girl i know named Natalie came in first place.
Then saturday night I went and interviewed Oderus Urungus and photographed Gwar...I thought I would be able to avoid being sprayed with the alien blood and gook.. But noo.. When I was up there with my photo pass i took a direct hit. blah.

Sunday morning I spent 4 hours doing orientation and training at Urban.. I was so tired I ended up sleeping all afternoon.

Yesterday I spent a good portion of the day at the skate park.. I also did today. After learning how to fall in knee pads and not hurt yourself on vert  ramps, I'm over my fear of heights with skating.. Like in the past I'll drop in, but nothing higher than 3 feet on concrete..(i've done 6 foot drops, but on skatelite/wood).. But now, I'm dropping in bowls like no big deal.   It's still a little nerve wracking because you're staring down 6 feet into what is made to look like an empty pool, and it seems to effing insane.. but then you just slam your board down and before you know it your at the bottom coming up the other wall kick turning and back.
I've also been more daring on the mini ramps.. I've got tail stalls down.. and i'm working on doing front side 180 ollies off of the coping(in layman's terms getting air off a mini halfpipe).
I must admit though I don't think my new found fearlessness is all due to learning to fall. Last week, prior to that, I skated down the club house(where the fitness center and community pools etc in my gated community are) at like 10 at night and went up on the second story balcony(not unusual for me to do).. and then i got the idea that it would be fun to jump off of it into the pool. so i took off my shoes, climbed over the railing onto a veranda, and i was srsly going to jump off of it into the pool, but then a car drove by.. and i was afraid they'd see.. So i ended up not doing it... but yeah.. i'm going to just blame all this on my watching bam margera dvd's..

I'm going to be moving to New York City!

(picture from google images.... gish it makes me so sad to see the twin towers.. apparently i was there more than once when i was little bc my dad worked there.. the the only time i remember was when my parents took me there after seeing Cirque Du Soleil in Battery Park when I was like 5.... and i remember looking up and not being able to see the top of it because it was so massive.. i remember a toy train in the lobby.. and being in the thingie that connected the two buildings.. i really wish that memory was clearer)  ANYWAYS...My dad is getting a place(he moved back there in May to do engineering consulting on the freedom tower, but he's been living out in NJ) on the Upper West Side by Central Park (one of the nicest parts of NYC)... so i'm going to be going back and forth between Scottsdale and NYC.. though it just dawned on me if I want to go back and forth a lot i'm going to have to fly coach..  My dad will be moving in to his new place(he still hasn't fully decided on which building.. he's got it narrowed to like three places) next month...  But I probably won't come see him until January, because I want to fly in for the Lady Gaga concert at Radio City.. but I won't stay long because i have to be back in AZ for my birthday the first weekend in February...

Which brings me to my party planning.. A little over two months left... I've decided I'm going to do a house at The Sanctuary for sure.. I already sent out Save The Dates to some of the people I'm inviting just to get some estimates on how many people are coming... I'm still torn between two houses, because the one has a better view and Britney Spears, Tommy Lee and BEP have stayed in it.. BUT the other is a lot bigger(6 bedrooms), has a jacuzzi(they both have private pools), a private tennis court(to skate on), and a much better backyard in general.. plus it's not as high up the mountain, so less chances of anyone falling down a ravine(the britney house is the highest house on the Paradise Valley side of Camelback Mtn).....I'm pretty much like 80% sure I'm having Vains Of Jenna play at the party(their booking agent just needs to go over prices and make sure they're avail that weekend), though I'm still looking into other bands.  I'm also looking into psychic readers(they all seem to have the same hourly rate... so it's more picking who seems like they'd be more fun), and karaoke rentals and maybe like henna tattoos.... should be fun.  I still haven't picked a theme.. I don't think i'll set one until I confirm what band is playing.

In other things I need to go X-mas shopping and get Diana a birthday present....... For Xmas I'm getting my parents & grandma Snuggies.. I'll prob get my dad something for his new place at Urban.. I'll prob get my mom a HIM calendar(lol she likes them almost as much as i do) and these wool slipper things they always have at Urban around x-mas which i usually buy her a pair each year and then 50 or Benji manages to chew them to shreds... and then I'll prob get my grandma something for her dog........  I won't post on here what I'm getting Diana as she is a buzznet user.. LOL i was going to get her a Cradle Of Filth "Guilded Cunt" t-shirt(lol one of my favorite memories from 2007.. and no neither of us is into COF) but they're only sold on UK sites. :*(

XOXO,

          Samantha

untitled

Why do i feel like this? why do i feel so incomplete.... why do i feel like letting go.. and meeting eternal sleep? why do i feel like i have no hope. or something to believe. nothing brings me joy.  love doesnt want me. no one wants me. i don't want me. i have no idea who i am. as everything i do is to try to be like someone else. or fit to something someone else wants.  or to make other people like me.  i cant do anything for me. unless i end this endlessly.

Where should I have my party at?

Big parties have to be planned in advance.. I pretty much have the band that i want, locked in to play my party... So now it's on to the venue and setting a date..

I'm going to go look at rooms at Afterlife Night Club(the whole club would be around 7k to rent out.. but you can rent the out one of it's four rooms, for not even a fraction of the cost)

The Aqua Room at Afterlife... It's light blue with a water theme.. and it's got these cool upper balconies to dance on... (it's a HUGE room.. i just couldn't find any pix of the whole thing)

The Rock Room at Afterlife... It's got a very hellish/goth type of theme... DieAnUh was at Afterlife for her homecoming, and she said apparently they have beds & cages in that room now.. haha.. I didn't believe her, until the guy who rents out the club was telling me this, as if it was some huge plus of a selling point, when I called him to enquire about prices.

Hi Lob at The Sanctuary... This is a private house.. which you might rec from US Weekly when Britney & KFed stayed there in '04... Tommy Lee and a slew of other people have stayed in it.. It's got two bedrooms, a huge guest house, a pool, and a really neat deck.. It's the highest house on the north side of Camelback Mountain.  The house is built into the mountain.. and srsly has one of the best views of Scottsdale.

The Gallery at The Sanctuary... another private house at the Sanctuary resort... this house has 4 bedrooms and a pool... it's also up in the mountain, though not nearly as high up as the other.. I'm not sure who has stayed here.. but i really like the mod theme.

Pros & Cons:
Night Club - Pros: it's a big space... the band can play as loud as they want. Cons: I'd only have it from 7 to Midnight..
Private Houses- Pros: Theres a 2 night minimum.. So my pAArty could last an entire weekend.  Pool party one night, rock show the next.. And I could put floating candles in the pool.. not to mention you get full usage of the hotel, room service, amazing city view, etc.   Cons: The band would have to play acoustic because there is a noise ordinance in Paradise Valley.

So where would you have it?

party planning..

My 20th birthday isn't until February, but i'm already planning my party.. I never had a super sweet 16, or a big 18th party... so I've decided I want a huge blow out party for 20.
I'm trying to narrow down a night club to throw the party at.  I'm wanting one with more of a punk or goth vibe, so I pretty much have it narrowed down to two night clubs in old town Scottsdale.
Then there's the entertainment.  I've always wanted a band to play at a party.. So I'm currently in talks with the booking agent of a band that i like, over prices and availability over them playing my party.
I was also thinking it would be fun to have like fortune tellers or something for all the party guest... and maybe like henna tattoos or something..
As far as food goes, I'm definitely wanting to have sushi...

any ideas or suggestions?

my birthday isn't for 106 days.. but it's better to plan ahead... plus reserving night clubs and metalish bands, is best done several months in advance..

Vampire Make Up And Other Stories..

Hey BBz,

My skate comp over the weekend went great.. I had fun competing against and getting to skate with other girls for once.  There was so much girl power there.. haha.. And honestly the girls division totally pwned the 11-13, 6-10 male, and male masters divisions (i left after our division was over, because it was too hot out... 100º in october).

I kind of took a mellow day on Sunday, though I did check out the new Barney's NYC store that opened here last week (major let down) and ate at Fred's (the restaurant inside Barneys... which was very meh).. and then yesterday I went shopping(got tons of cute stuff).  Today I pretty much slept the whole day and then when skating for a bit tonight..

I've decided not to go to CKY's Halloween show in West Chester.  I'm hella bummed.. and now i've been hit with the dilemma of what to do for Halloween.  The only 18+ night club party, is a "pimp's and hoes" ball (um yeah so not my scene)... I might go to 944's Halloween Party at the Princess Hotel in NoSco, but 944 parties are kind of meh except for the fact they usually have good performers(like 50 Cent at the 944 Super Bowl thing); but i don't think they have anyone preforming for Halloween as the tickets are only like $200 & you get a hotel room w/ that. The hotel party I really want to go to is the Haunted Hotel at the Valley Ho, but it's a 21+ party.

Aside from not knowing what to go to.. i'm not sure how i should do my makeup..  I was just googling Vampire Makeup.. here are some possibilities..

high fashion zombie style....

dark & dead

red lipped..

suggestions?!?!? i'm going makeup shopping on friday...

so tell me.. What are you all going as for Halloween?

xoxo,

       Samantha..

hyvää iltaa

Good Evening (or whatever time it is by you... as it's actually midnight here) Everyone,

I'm laying here in bed feeling a bit stressed out.  I'm interviewing/photographing Lacuna Coil and QuietDrive tomorrow, at TWO DIFFERENT CONCERTS!! I'm going to be going back and forth... I'm hoping I'll have a chance to check out The Higher(i love them!) and All That Remains( not a fan but i do have one of their cd's.. but i only bought it because it's the one that Matt played on before he left atr for cky) as well tomorrow.. But probably not depending on what times Lacuna and QD play, plus the re-entry policies(usually a press pass gives you the right to come and go).
I still have to finish writing up questions.. So let me know if you want me to ask Lacuna Coil or QuietDrive anything!!! You can always AIM your questions to me at ICriedNLuvSaidNo ...

Today I pretty much relaxed.  Though i've been hit with a dilemma, in the fact that Shawna can't go to WC with me, so I don't know what I'm going to do about my scheduled interview with CKY on the 30th.  I really don't want to have to cancel.  AHH.. I have so many interviews/photo passes scheduled, aside from tomorrow.. I've got Anarbor and Stray Light Run on the 24th, CKY on the 30th,  Drive A on Nov 9th, From First To Last on Nov 10th, and Gwar Nov 14th!  Send me questions!!!

I'm really bummed out.. I just saw Lady Gaga's tour date listing on FaceBook, she'd not playing phoenix! I might just have to go to her Los Angeles or NYC shows instead.

OH BIG NEWS!!!!  RockstarBaby.net and WeDontBuyYourMerch.com are merging.  It will now be RockstarBaby.net: We Don't Buy Your Merch... Kayla (the owner of WDBYM) and I agreed RSB's URL should be kept as the main one, as it's been around longer.  It's going to be more of a Online Magazine format.  All of the videos in the Youtube Channel are being re-edited, and the web site's new layout is going to be amazing.   The full relaunch should be at the end of the month.

Moving on... I'm still really nervous for my skate competition on saturday.  I'll probably film my run and stuff for one of my little projects I'm working on.

If I have to cancel my one out of state interview.... I am srsly going on a huge spending spree at the brand new Barney's New York store thats opening here in Scottsdale this week.  I've really not bought much clothing this year.. It's time to splurge...

Hrrmm what else is going in my life right now...  My 20th birthday isn't until February, BUT I'm already planning the party.  I'm looking into local night clubs to rent, and I've already started looking into booking a band to play the party.. I'm thinking a "death(metal) to my teens" theme. haha.

XOXO,
you know you love me.. Rockstar Samantha

ps: pick me out a new temporary user name thingie to replace Viva La Sam(antha)

pps: my subject line means "good evening" in Finnish.

I'm interviewing & photographing Fall Of Troy (tuesday), Framing Hanley (wednesday), Quiet Drive (thursday) and Lacuna Coil (thursday).. yes thats right, i'm covering TWO concerts in one night(thankfully the venues are about 15 minutes from each other.. but still). It's going to be a crazy week.. not to mention I'm skating in a skateboard competition next saturday.
If you have any questions for me to ask any of the bands post them here! Be sure to state your name, age, location...

We also have been confirmed to interview Stray Light Run (oct 24th), CKY (oct 30th), Drive A (nov 9th), From First To Last (nov 10th), and Gwar (Nov 14th)...

Btw RSB is in talks to of doing a merger with another popular Arizona based band interview web site..

the road to self improvement...

I've decided recently to take charge of everything thats bugging me in my life.

be it my messy room, or the few pounds i've been meaning to loose, or the skate tricks i've been meaning to learn, or bands i've wanted to interview.

I'm on a path to making my life better

I'm in the process of getting my room in order (i need more closet space. I seriously have enough clothing to cloth a third world nation. haha).. And in November I plan to do some renovations to it.. I'm going to add actual wallpaper (http://designerwallcoverings.com/WallpaperStore/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=384) & wood to the chair rail (right now it's just a paint on illusion)...and i'm going to tile the counter in my bathroom.

I've been working out, counting calories, and got rid of sweets from the diet.  I'm almost exactly where I want to be weight wise..it's mainly my legs that have been bugging me..as i've always pretty much had a flat stomach.

I've been practicing skating a lot lately.. mostly street. but this weekend I just started back in the park, after about a year away from park skating. god i missed the vert ramps.. I'm skating in this big locals only skate competition next month.

I've been getting RSB back in order.. Slowly.. My photo gallery is almost completely fixed... I still need to send out more press queries for the fall.  But tonight I'm photographing/interviewing The Ataris.

I guess my biggest problem with anything, has always been staying focused.  Or on the right path...  So i've decided i'm going to go get a tattoo today of a line from "The Path" by HIM, to always remind me to stay on my path... "I see through the darkness, my way back home, the journey seems endless but i'll cary on, the shadows will rise, and they will falls, and our night drowns in dawn"

xoxo,

CHOOSE WHO I INTERVIEW/PHOTOGRAPH!!!

Hey guys!!!

So I've decided to focus RockstarBaby.net solely on interviews, reviews, event photos and personal commentary(i might do some tv re-cap stuff too).. and little to know like news/gossip stuff.

I'm currently working(this weekend) on fully getting up all the old photos into our photo gallery (our original gallery go deleted during a server switch).. a lot of new photos have been added, as well as grain reduction  & color correction on the older ones.
I'm also going to be re-doing our youtube channel, as well as transcribing all of our old interviews.

ANYWAY.... I'm currently lining up all my interviews & such for the fall... Let me know who YOU would like to see me photograph and interview.. It's not limited to just rock & action sports, if you have a burning desire for me to take photos at a rap or pop show/try to interview that artist, let me know..   Let me know in comments on here or you can AIM me at ICriedNLuvSaidNo

Xoxo,

     S

PS: the pix from 2007 of My Chemical Romance, The 69 Eyes, Jeffree Star, FOB, and Cute Is What We Aim For are all already back up. RockstarBaby.net/Gallery

a very short story.

here is a very short story that I wrote tonight. It probably wont make a ton of sense to anyone, as it is just a fragment of a larger story that i've thought up over the past few years but never put to pen.

The only thing she ever believed in was the night and the music she could hear when night came. A familiar song drifted through the speakers, note by note caressing her mind. And in that moment she knew everything would be okay.

Some people live for a new day. Tomorrow. When everything would start a new, a time for new chances and new begining. But she wasn't like that. She never felt that way. She'd wake as the sun was falling deep into the dark pacific ocean. As she'd ready herself for her life, the last rays of light would slip away with the clouds and by the time she left home the moon shown bright.

"Why don't you believe in the light" he asked her once.

She looked at him, with a look of sadness that only a truly tormented person could hold.

"I may not believe in your light, but I believe in the light. Those lights." she told him, as she pointed out at the grid of the city lights from the balcony of her home. "Every one of those lights holds a life and I know I'm not alone. The light you believe in only reminds me I'm alone."

As much as she loved the night, she often secretly wished she could escape from the night for which she loved so much. The nights seemed endless. And what had once been a thrilling novelty had warn its way thin. But finding a way out of which you've grown to know, isn't always as easy as the wish for change. As not all change is good, practical or possible. And even when it is in face all three, it can be the hardest thing to obtain.

"Tonight I shall go see this band that I like preform." she told herself or a friend. More often than not she did. She always felt an epic high, as the first notes would start. Her feeling of joy would escalate as the songs grew faster and louder.

Certain bands that she would see would play soft beautiful songs, for which she loved. But these song would bring her sadness and longing. A longing for which she could never fulfill. A longing for that which she did not know she coveted. These were the songs she'd listen to when she sat alone, long as she'd sung along to "the taste of ink" at "4'oclock in the fucking morning", watching her beloved city lights fade and the sunrise. She'd listen to those songs afterwards, as she cried herself to sleep, with her thick curtains shutting out the first rays of sunlight.

"Why do you live in the night?" someone once asked her.

"The night is beautiful, as it is the only time you can see the light" she replied.

konichiha! sore ha resume desu ka?

So i've decided to not spend another aimless summer interviewing bands and flitting around on scattered vacations to california and new york.. I want something new..... So I've decided I want to apply for summer internships in NY and LA...I'm thinking of applying for cnn and or sirius xm.... I was looking at internship req's, and they all ask for a resume... As I lost when i transfered all my files to my external hard drive, my old resume, i'm working on a new one..... here it is, though I feel like it's lacking a little:

Education:
I was home schooled from 4th grade on. I was enrolled at eleven in Stanford University's online gifted program. I also had private lessons in computer graphics, 3d computer animation, html & web design, French, and Japanese. For extra curricular activities I did: horseback riding, guitar, bass guitar, drums, various forms of dance, and vocal lessons.
At age sixteen, I enrolled in Scottsdale Community College taking various classes in their Broadcasting and Film school.

Work Experience:
Fourteen: I worked on the 2004 George W. Bush Presidential Re-election Campaign. I did phone banking at the Phoenix Republican Headquarters offices, as well as helped deliver yard signs.

Sixteen:
I hosted my own weekly radio show(for a year) on Scottsdale Community College/KFHX Fountain Hill's internet radio station. I got listeners from all over North America and even some from Europe, who enjoyed my banter as well as my selections in punk, alternative and metal music.

Seventeen:
I created a web blog,RockstarBaby.net, blogging about the latest new in the rock music world. Two weeks after starting the blog, I decided to go after getting interviews with bands, as being a journalist has always been my dream.
I've interviewed: 3!0h3, The 69 Eyes, The Academy Is, The Almost, Authority Zero, Circa Survive, Cisco Adler(tv personality), CKY, Clutch, Cobra Starship, Cute Is What We Aim For, Envy On The Coast, the Gym Class Heroes, Haste The Day, The Matches, Mike Vallely (professional skateboarder), Monty are I, Mindless Self Indulgence, Norma Jean, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Shwayze, and Story Of The Year.
I've had press credentials to: 2007 Cradle Of Filth tour, My Chemical Romance's "Welcome To The Black Parade Tour", The 2007 Alternative Press Tour, 2007 Honda Civic Tour starring Fall Out Boy, 2007 Van's Warped Tour, 2007 Projekt Revolution Tour, 2007 Family Values Tour, Bam Margera Presents Viva La Bands Tour, Cobra Starship's Really Really Ridiculously Good Looking Tour, 2008 Taste Of Chaos Tour, Club Tattoo's 10th Anniv' Party featuring Chester Bennington from Linkin Park, 2008 Van's Warped Tour, 2008 Maloof Money Cup Skateboard Competition, and the 2009 Avenged Sevenfold Tour.
I still keep up with RockstarBaby, though it's now shifted it's focus from just rock music to more of a general pop culture standpoint.

Matt Deis, bassist for the band CKY (famous for being on the MTV shows Jackass, Viva La Bam, and Bam's Unholy Union, as well as the CKY series of Skateboard movies), had me design and maintain his official web site. I did his web site for him from January, until October of that year, when he could no longer afford to keep a web site due to a band hiatus.

I had an article, that I wrote about Fall Out Boy, published in the Winter 2007 edition of Heart Magazine.

Eighteen:
I continued RockstarBaby.net.

I created my own street wear t-shirt line called The Dark Matter Project, which I sell online.

One of the 214214214214214 reasons why Buzznet totally pwns Myspace

No one harasses me on here to "yo shawt waz gud wit u, come chek out mah new rap joint n tell me wut you think"...
I hate rap(with the exception of a certain few artists and early 90's stuff), i have it written boldly on my page, i even had it in my screen name for a while...yet i still get several comments and emails a day on MySpace asking me to check out some horrendously bad rap song.
Thank god for Buzznet and it's rock demographic orientedness. Because I swear if one more person asks me "Whats good with you"(I happen to think that is the most asinine phrase ever comprehended, and makes "fo shizzel my nizzel" sound eloquent), I will spontaneously combust with annoyedness.

it's almost that time of year again....

My Birthday is less than a month away.. I've decided I don't want a party this year. I really want to go away for the weekend this year instead... i either want to go to Hollywood and stay at the Beverly Hills Hotel (though i think it's going to be booked since my birthday is the same day as the Grammys), and try to score some Grammy tix(blah its like $400 for nose bleeds) and go shop melrose & rodeo... or go to NYC , stay at the Palace(the hotel from GG), and go to a play/shopping...

I really doubt my rents will spring for either. I probably have more of a chance for a NY trip, though I highly doubt they would actually spring for staying in the city, since my grandma lives 30 minutes outside.

if the vaykay suggestions fail... what should i ask for?
